Randburg police warn residents of bogus cops

RANDBURG – Bogus cops are about, asking for bribes.

There have been more incidents of people posing as police officers and eliciting bribes from residents, in the Randburg area.

Randburg Police Station spokesperson Captain Makgwanyana Maja has urged community members to never give cash to people dressed as, and appearing to be, police officers.

“We are still seeing instances of this happening but people should not panic when someone dressed as a cop asks for cash,” Maja said.

“They should not pay them, and usually they are bogus cops. They can come to the station and sort the matter out here.”

Details: Randburg Police Station 011 449 9110.
