KJD grandmaster honoured
BROMHOF – Local grandmaster honoured at ambassador's meeting to discuss martial arts.
KJD Martial Arts Academy is proud of grandmaster Eun Woo Lee, who featured at a Korean ambassador’s meeting to discuss future Olympic Games and international championships in Korean martial arts.
Lee opened the academy in Bromhof in 2002 and created kwanjando, his own syllabus of Korean martial arts.
While still living in Korea in 1972, he became the national taekwondo champion and currently holds a 9th dan black belt in taekwondo, hapkido and gumdo.
He is also a 4th dan in judo and is an international referee in Olympic taekwondo.
At the prestigious meeting in Pretoria, he was joined by Kumgang Kimberley club’s sabumnim Thomas du Plessis and KJD Randburg’s keyosanim Vernen Naidoo, as well as dignitaries of Sascoc and the Korean ambassador, Chull-Joo Park.
Grandmaster Lee is ranked fifth in the world and has sacrificed many years in South Africa to produce champions.
The Korean ambassador also expressed his desire to host a new Ambassador’s Cup soon for students of all ages.
