Randburg residents tell us why they are voting

RANDBURG – Voting stations will be open until 9pm and all registered voters are encouraged to cast their vote at the station they are registered at.

Voting is underway throughout the country and Randburg residents have already come out in their numbers to cast their votes.

Remember, when heading out to vote, you need your ID, a mask and your own pen. Voting stations will be open until 9pm and all registered voters are encouraged to cast their vote at the station they are registered at. You will not be able to vote at a different station to the one you are registered at.

A couple of voting stations in the Randburg area experienced minor delays this morning, but those appear to have been short-lived, and the process is now running smoothly.

Voters spoke to Randburg Sun to tell us about their experiences, and why they are choosing to be up early to make their voices heard.

SHANTAL WAGNER
The process was quick and easy. As an elder citizen I was offered to jump the queue but I opted not to. I’m happy to have participated in the elections and am proudly South African for doing so.
NIKOLAS WOLBER: The process was well organised and I went through it really quickly. I’m urging registered voters to get up and go out to make a difference by voting.
CARLA WOLBER: The only way to make a difference is to go out there and vote. Every vote counts so please make sure you vote today.
ALICIA FOURIE: I think SA is in need of change. Unemployment and inflation are high. Low growth. Change starts small with local municapilities and infrastructure. Water and electricity challenges in this area are a problem. People underestimate power of local government. Change happens at ground level.
CHRISTIANS MOKGOSI (ANC councillor candidate for ward 102): I will prioritise service delivery. Done research on potholes and lights out, areas that needed cleaning up, drug dealers. I have good relationships with local organisations, and will work with to clean up area. I encourage community participation.
CLYDE GRANTHAM: I have taken every opportunity to vote since 94. if lose then I lose but there is no use complaining if you do not vote.
DARREN VAN DER MULLEN: I am voting because I need a change in SA and things have been going downhill. We need job creation, more people being productive in society and citizen involvement and school maintenance and more education.
MIKE: I am voting for some of the things to be right. I am generally happy with the state of things.
KGOLANE MOGAU PHAHLAMHLAKA (Action SA candidate for ward 102): I want to fight local economic development, promote youth internships, want to reduce crime, improve service delivery on a shorter response time from CoJ.
