Blankets for trauma victims
KENSINGTON B – The weight of a blanket helps as well as the warmth following trauma, says a resident.
A couple of residents who sew and knit blankets for victims at Randburg Police Station’s trauma centre are always happy to receive donations.
Whether it is in materials or money for wool, Jan Kennedy and Maria Matjeke will gladly use them for good.
“I only make thick blankets,” explained Kennedy.
“After trauma, you need to be warm but the weight of the blanket also helps with the comfort. It is hard to explain but that is what works best.”
They encouraged the community to contact them and find out more about their work, and perhaps make a donation.
