Illegal gun and stolen bike found in Windsor

WINDSOR – Bike listed as stolen also found on the property of the suspect.

Suspected arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

Linden police had an eventful day as they tracked down a suspect after receiving information on his whereabouts.
According to the station’s spokesperson Sergeant Takalani Sibiya, the Windsor-based suspect was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition for three rifles on January 16. “We received information on the suspect being in possession of the weapon and went to the address he was believed to be staying at.

“Upon our arrival, we discovered the house was being rented out and the suspect was not there. Fortunately, we attained information on his whereabouts and followed up on that.”
Police arrived at the next address and found the suspect who showed police where the firearm was, inside an old truck on the premises.

The suspect then pointed out where the ammunition was hidden inside the house. Sibiya added, “The man failed to produce a licence for the firearm after we found the ammunition in a drawer under his clothing. While being arrested, officers noticed a motorbike under a brown tent cover and which matched the description of a stolen motorcycle.”

Police confirmed that the bike was indeed registered as stolen, furthermore, the suspect stated he had bought the motorcycle from someone else.

The suspect was detained at Linden Police Station and the station continues their investigation around the motorcycle and dangerous weapon found with the suspect.
