Service delivery poor in Ward 101
OLIVEDALE – Ward councillor says he is doing his best to tackle the matters at hand.
Electricity outages and cable theft, water pipe bursts, overgrown bushes and numerous potholes plague Ward 101.
Though things could be worse, Ward 101 councillor Ralf Bittka said service delivery in Olivedale, North Riding, Bromhof and surrounds was poor.
“The power outages and cable theft has been going on for some time and City Power met with residents and myself in November last year,” he said.
“They outlined their plan of action but I am still waiting for a feedback meeting with them to see how it is going. Residents have still had electricity issues, and I will meet with them after that feedback meeting.”
Bittkau said he was on top of this issue, which along with the state of the roads, was probably the most urgent problem.
Another matters of importance was replacing old water pipes with new ones which were less likely to burst.
This is slowly going ahead, Bittkau said.
There was some illegal dumping in the ward, but this was being dealt with, and Pikitup otherwise had had no issues with refuse collections recently.
If residents wished to contact Bittkau regarding issues in the ward, they could send him a WhatsApp message on 084 572 4002.
