Residents ensure the parks are clean and safe
BLOUBOSRAND – Residents are invited to attend a Family Day event and enjoy being at the park.
The Clean Green Foundation (CGF) in Bloubosrand invites residents to enjoy a Family Day at the Nautilus Park on March 5 from 9:00.
Residents are asked to bring their picnic baskets, blankets, and bicycles for children. The foundation indicated that free hotdogs and popcorn will be provided for the less-fortunate children in the community.
This after the foundation together with City Parks, South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) and Bloubosrand Community Forum (BCF) embarked on an initiative to clean the parks in the area and ensure there was security.

“There is great excitement in our community that we have had our security updated at the two parks in Bloubosrand,” said Stefanie Winterburn from the foundation.
Nautilus Park and Rooikrans Park went from no fencing to palisade fencing and lock-up gates. Gates will be locked from 18:00 until 06:00 the following morning.

She said City Parks has agreed to repair Nautilus Park playgrounds, swings, rubber mats under the swings with additional benches and bins.
Currently the Rooikrans Park does not have benches and bins and the foundation was appealing for help in order to improve the state of the park.

The CGF wants to ensure that parks are for the families in their community. “That both young and old can enjoy the outdoors safely and securely in our communities,” said Winterburn.
“We also request donations from other stakeholders within the area to ensure the upkeep of the parks as we are a non-profit company.”
She added that they appreciated the speed at which City Parks responded to their call for safer parks within the community as well as Sanco’s proactive approach and leadership in the entire process.
