Honeydew SAPS on the soccer beat

Age has no limit as Honeydew SAPS together with the JRA workers unite to keep fit by playing soccer.

On March 31, Honeydew police and Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) Region C workers held a friendly soccer match at the multipurpose sports ground in Cosmo City.

“SAPS soccer team usually has a senior team which plays in the West Rand leagues involving all the police from a certain age. However, the Covid-19 outbreak disturbed our soccer meetups but that did not stop us from playing as we initiated soccer games with the police and other region C stakeholders such as the JRA Region C,” said Sergeant Maci Soldaat of Honeydew police.
He added that they wanted to build a strong relationship with JRA and other stakeholders, and played every Wednesday against invited teams.

Ndivhuho Mbodi, a foreman at JRA said soccer was not only played by youngsters, older people could also play to maintain good health and fitness.
For the record, Honeydew police beat JRA 5–2.
