Robindale parks are looking good
Ward councillor commends the residents association on the maintenance of its seven parks.
Robins Residents and Ratepayers Association (RRRA) has worked hard to maintain the seven parks in its area.
There are daily struggles with parks in Robindale, just as there are with any park in Joburg, but association chairperson, Irvin Sammons and other committed residents go above and beyond to keep their green spaces clean and safe.
Whether it is walking around with a plastic bag and picking up litter, reporting dumping to the City or the local security and service company, UTM, participating in the regular community clean-up days or just supporting the association financially so it can keep the suburb beautiful, this neighbourhood is not short on willing volunteers.
In fact, it is UTM that does much of the cleaning of the parks, removing cut grass to the edges of parks for Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo to collect.
“UTM and residents also replaced the fences and tyres that surround parts of Cherry Park to keep vehicles coming in to dump,” Sammons said.
“We see that because residents are committed to our seven parks, they are in good condition.”
Ward 98 councillor Nicole van Dyk commended the association for its work.
“These parks are in a much better condition than others in Joburg because of what they have done,” she said.
“I always encourage residents to join their residents association because of the difference they can make when working together. This is a prime example of that.”
