Community’s Easter egg hunt fun

Residents celebrate Easter with an egg hunt at Rooihout Avenue Park.

A belated community Easter egg hunt and bench unveiling brought residents of Randpark Ridge and Weltevreden Park together recently.

Welridge Residents Association saw to it that Rooihout Avenue Park was abuzz as a race was also held to find tokens, with the winning resident earning a buffet luncheon voucher at a local lodge.

Other prizes included Easter egg hampers and more.

The memorial bench was installed after a memorial park was set aside for residents to erect plaques in memory of loved ones.

Welridge Residents Association chairperson Audrey Vrachionidis said hosting events like this also serve to attract new members.

“The more members we have, the lower or rates will be and the better network of eyes and ears to assist in curbing crime in the area,” she said.

“Also, the more members we have, the more projects and upliftment can be tackled by the committee for the community. We currently have monitored cameras at six of our entrance and exit points. This has significantly decreased crime in the area and we intend to add some more.”
