Randburg Clock Tower to be replaced

The Johannesburg Development Agency hopes the project will be done by October next year.

The clock tower in Randburg will also be due for an upgrade with the Randburg CBD Public Environment Upgrade Project.

The Johannesburg Development Agency hopes the project will be done by October next year.

The current tower structure is made of precast concrete and brick, with the no-longer-working clock situated right at the top.

The new structure will be clad mostly with pre-cast concrete with frosted poly-card sheeting to give it a modern look.

It is proposed that coloured lighting will be added, with a new enclosed section to draw attention to the clock tower at night also revealing the current concrete structure within.

The design of the structure will not be changed much otherwise, in order for it to keep its character.
