Friends of Rescued Animals asks for homes and help
Stray animals across Joburg are rescued, vaccinated, sterilised and re-homed by Fora.
There are always rescued animals in need of forever homes.
Friends of Rescued Animals made this clear as they raised awareness and funds at the third annual Charity Golf Day at Eagle Canyon Estate on July 28.
The animal shelter is based in Krugersdorp but collects, vaccinates, sterilises and finds homes for strays all over Joburg.
The shelter’s Candis van Gylswyk said there were often stray dogs and cats that were picked up in Randburg, or rehomed in the area.
The organisation helps rescue pigs, chickens and other farm animals, too, but these stay at the shelter and are not for adoption.
“We are always grateful for golf days like this where we can have our raffle and further donations,” said Van Gylswyk.
“I want golfers to have fun today and become aware of the need to sterilise and vaccinate animals. People also need to stop going to breeders as there is a need for adoptions at animal shelters.”
If one cannot take in one of the rescued animals, the shelter always welcomes volunteers and donations of money and animal food.
