Learners from grades 1 to 3 learned how to carry their bags correctly, sit properly, and do other things in their day-to-day lives that would keep them fit, strong, and healthy.

Randpark Primary School hosted visitors from physiotherapy and biokinetics practice, Samantha Dunbar Inc.

It was a day of fun and about 100 youngsters were learning new life skills.

Tables were brought onto the school field and the children excitedly volunteered to sit in front of their classmates.
The physiotherapists and biokineticists asked them to sit badly, sit how they normally would, and sit up straight for demonstration.

Even things like resting their chins on their hands, and crossing their feet while seated, were explained to be bad for them.

When it came to carrying heavy or large bags and carrying them low or high on the back, the visitors did the demonstration themselves.

The final activity was a stretch and exercise session, including jumping jacks.

The children were told to make sure they do not sit all day, but stand up once in a while to stretch. They discussed how poor posture, sitting inappropriately, and carrying a heavy bag or a bag low on the back, can cause back pain and headaches.
