Sonneglans resident graduates from the Shree Sanathan Dharma Sabha of South Africa.

Romilla Ramgathi continues to pour from her fountain of knowledge into the hands of her Hindi language learners.

When Ramgathi isn’t hosting her online Zoom classes for the Hindi language, she is embracing her student-like mindset and pursuing the beautiful art of education.

“I graduated after studying for three years through the Shree Sanathan Dharma Sabha of South Africa on September 4. I did a three-year course where I learned about our Hindu rites, prayers, weddings, and funerals and post-funerals rites,” said Ramgathi.

She shared that 10 of them had graduated as Hindu priests and were ready to practise their newly acquired knowledge about trauma and marriage counselling with the community. “My family and friends were very supportive throughout my studies.”

Ramgathi was the only student in her class who was from Gauteng as the graduation ceremony was held at the Durban Hindu Temple in KwaZulu-Natal.

She extended her heartfelt gratitude to all her teachers (Gurus) who had dedicated their time preparing workshops, assignments and exams every semester.

Ramgathi shared her thoughts on the importance of teachers’ continuing learning. “I think that there is no limit to teaching ourselves. Learners and teachers should be inspired to continue learning more about our religion and traditions.

“My aim is to serve my community and uphold our Sanathan Dharma. I was inspired to do this course so that I could help others to better understand the teachings of our Hindi religion and to put them into practice in their everyday life.”

Ramgathi invites everyone interested in learning the Hindi language to her online Zoom classes. She said people were also welcome to come to her premises.
