Social workers unwind at Child Welfare SA provincial assembly in Ferndale

Children also attend event to discuss ideas with social workers at Child Welfare SA provincial assembly.

Social workers had a chance to relax, mingle and support each other for a change at Child Welfare South Africa’s provincial AGM and assembly.

The Apollo Conferencing Hotel in Ferndale was host to representatives from branches and affiliate groups across the province, who despite their formal dress, let their hair down as they enjoyed lunch together.

Some children who had been helped were also in attendance, to share ideas and feedback with the social workers.

Provincial chairperson Angelique McAdam welcomed everyone and recited a prayer about how important and worthy they all were.

She also acknowledged World Aids Day and 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

“Some children are here to say thank you for what you have done,” she said.

“We are here for the children and what we do is for them.”

She gave her chairperson’s report before treasurer Bruce Eagle reported the financials and director Matsobane Sasa gave her report.

A question and answer session was held before the provincial assembly event which saw discussions about the Constitution, affiliation agreements and other policies.
