Abraham Kriel Bambanani share 2023 wish list
House Mouton, Fountainebleau and Aasvoëlkop in Risidale are 3 of the Satelite houses that form part of AKB’s Residential care programme.
Ernesta Snyman-Teessen, the manager of the marketing department at Abraham Kriel Bambanani writes:
Abraham Kriel Bambanani (AKB) is faced with the mammoth task to close the gap between funding received from the government and the actual cost of caring for the beneficiaries in these homes.
AKB and these homes are not spared from the economic decline and it becomes more difficult by the day to make ends meet as most of our loyal donors are also feeling the pinch.
We need continued involvement and support from the community in the form of:
- Volunteers to assist with homework and maths
- Volunteers to spend time with the children and build relationships with these traumatised children to create a sense of belonging.
- Assist with maintenance in and around the houses
- Teach the children some life skills
- Arrange outings for the children.
It takes a lot to mend our broken children – countless therapy sessions, emotional support, educational support and social support.
The biggest wish for 2023 is that AKB will have enough resources to provide for our children’s every need, heal all the scars, provide the necessary educational support, and develop them to be the best they can be.
Maintenance needs at House Mouton:
- To spend time and money on renovations that are needed at House Mouton – replace bath with showers; new tiles in the passageways; paint the house and roof; re-install the borehole and install a water tank to assist with septic water usage and watering of the garden
- Generators at all houses. We need rechargeable lights and battery backup’s for the computer, as well as two plate gas stoves for emergencies.
