Honeydew Eco Village Autumn market aims to change lives

Chantelle van den Berg said there is also a drop-off point and people can bring any items for donations.

Honeydew Eco Village will host an autumn market on March 4 and invites all residents to come in numbers to support it.

The market is aimed at raising funds to provide continuous support for the Bethany House Trust Children’s Home.

The children’s home provides specialised services to child victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment, in addition to other projects aimed at helping marginalised communities.

Market organiser Chantelle van den Berg said the Honeydew Eco Village believes that giving back to the community is essential, and one of the ways to do this is supporting charities and organisations that help those in need. “Bethany House Children’s Home is a non-profit organisation that provides shelter, food, education, and healthcare to vulnerable and orphaned children in our community.

“They rely on donations to sustain their operations, and as a community, we can help them by supporting this market. By coming together and contributing to this cause, we can make a significant impact on the lives of these children and give them hope for a brighter future.”

The market will feature creative and original artisan vendors selling handmade crafts, jewellery, clothing, accessories, and more.

“We are going to have a fun-filled day starting at 9:00 in the morning with the yoga class for all ages at R50 per person. There will be delicious food and live music performances throughout the day. We’ll have activities for children, including face painting and a jumping castle, as well as a raffle with huge prizes to be won. We hope to create a fun and festive atmosphere where people can come together, socialise, and support a worthy cause,”

She urged everyone in the community to come out in numbers and support the market. “By doing so, you’ll not only have a fun and enjoyable day with your friends and family, but you’ll also be making a difference in the lives of vulnerable and orphaned children in our community.

“Every little bit counts, and your support can help the home provide a safe and nurturing environment for these children, where they can receive the care and education they need to thrive. So please mark your calendars and come out to support this wonderful cause. We look forward to seeing you there.”
