Foundation shows love to homeless people on Mandela Day

ThembiT Foundation teamed up with Ocean High School to reach their Mandela Day goal .

ThembiT Foundation, situated in Ferndale, spent Mandela Day serving soup to homeless and poor individuals in the Randburg CBD.

The foundation is built on three pillars, feed the heart, the mind, and the stomach. Ocean High School in Randburg matriculants from the class of 2023 joined the foundation.

According to founder Thembi Tshabalala, Nelson Mandela Day is a call for the foundation to take action and reflect on Mandela’s beliefs and principles in order to have a good influence in the communities.

She added that they invited young people because they believe in sharing knowledge with youth and involve them in community work as they are the future of this country.

“Young people are the future and we want to teach and encourage the spirit of Ubuntu. It is important to teach them the values of sharing and caring as we all know Mandela was a loving and caring leader.”

They choose Randburg CBD to show love and instil hope in homeless people, as they believe it is the act that counts.

“We reached our Mandela Day goal because we were able to give to people who have nothing. They surely went to bed at least with something in their tummy. These are hard times, people are homeless and jobless so we are happy were able to help even if it was for that day,” added Tshabalala

Tshabalala thanked chefs, HTA ,Radio 2000 and Capsicum Culinary Studio for supporting their initiative.
