Randridge Residents Association enjoys a fun run

Randpark Ridge residents celebrate their thriving community spirit at Spring Fun Run.

An annual Spring Fun Run saw Randpark Ridge community members connect and get some exercise together on a sunny Saturday morning.

Afterwards, those families who brought their dogs allowed them to play together while they enjoyed some free boerewors rolls.

The event, hosted by Randridge Residents Association (RRA) on September 2, was designed to be a social community gathering. The fun run started at Wayne Street Park and participants could complete as many 2.5km laps as they wanted – guided by marshals – before returning to the park.

Some took the run seriously and shot out of the blocks from the start while most took it at a leisurely stroll, or a fast walk at the most, so they could connect with their neighbours.

“We want to thank everyone for coming out,” said the association’s director of events and resources, Quinn Lubbe. “It is through the contribution of members that we can have our booms and the patrol vehicle. The community spirit of everyone here is wonderful and it helps us make this place great.”

He said the association will host a Halloween trick or treat in October, a yard sale in November or December and a ‘pimp my pavement’ event in January.
