CPF advises the community to remain vigilant

Douglasdale SAPS, and CPF partnered with other different stakeholders on the community engagement to raise awareness of crime in the area.

Approximately 2100 pamphlets were distributed on Winnie Mandela Drive and Sunrise Boulevard on April 10.

The purpose of the community engagement was to raise awareness of crimes such as:

  • Hijackings
  • Armed Robberies
  • Common Robberies
  • Theft out of motor vehicles
  •  Theft of motor vehicles
  • Gender Based Violence

Freda Boiles of the Douglasdale CPF explained that the initiative was well received by the community.

“Many motorists and pedestrians were eager to interact with both SAPS and CPF members. These campaigns are part of the ongoing joint crime prevention initiatives between SAPS/CPF and other stakeholders aiming at educating and raising awareness on safety. We encourage members of the public to remain vigilant at all times no matter what season we are in.”

The teams also spoke to pedestrians on matters of personal security including the protection of handheld valuables such as handbags, mobile devices and Gender Based Violence. Job seekers and hawkers were addressed with random fingerprints taken and the area was cleaned up.

“As the Douglasdale CPF we wish to thank all role players and we look forward to engaging in similar operations within the sector,” added Boiles.

Other stakeholders include the councillor David Foley, Boutique Security, Ghost Squad, Fidelity, Night Guard, Savika, SDS Protection, Stallion, Thompsons and Tactical Reaction Security Services.
