King’s School learner expresses her excitement about school’s celebrations event

The King's School Robin Hills learner Kaley Govindasamy explained that their alumni event brought old friends together.

The King’s School Robin Hills recently hit a monumental and joyful milestone in its history as the school celebrated its 40th birthday.

To celebrate this memorable occasion the school hosted a series of events that showcased both the primary and high schools’ marvelous talents while walking the audience through the history of the school through the years.

Sharing her experience on the milestone Kaley Govindasamy writes:

On April 11, the school hosted a revue that focused on the primary school learners who dazzled the audience with their cuteness and excitement. The band started the night off with their exhilarating praise and worship, with parents singing and dancing along. Before each performance, our amazing MC entertained the audience with his humorous jokes as he walked them through the history of our school. Each grade was given a specific year to showcase its clothing, dances, and songs. The years that the grades were given represented important years in which The King’s School experienced milestones in its growth and development.

The following day (April 12) we hosted our second revue which focused on the high school. The Grade 10s represented the 2000s. They had the privilege of dancing to many songs such as Nkalakatha by Mandoza, which filled the audience with energy and they impressed with their vocals as they sang A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton. The 2000s were memorable years for the school as it reached many milestones, such as, in January 2001 the school’s library was enlarged and refurbished; the school celebrated its 21st birthday with alumni on March 12 and 13, 2005.

On April 13, the school hosted an alumni event that focused on allowing past pupils and previous staff members to come back and see how much the school has grown over the years. It was a beautiful and special event, as many people saw friends and teachers that they hadn’t seen in years. They could all catch up and reminisce on fond memories that they had experienced at the school. Everyone left with huge smiles on their faces and loud laughter.

The revues and alumni event were beautiful and heartfelt occasions– the most perfect way of celebrating the school’s 40th birthday as it not only showcased the school’s history and milestones but also brought old friends back together and filled them with so much joy and nostalgia. It was a special way to show the school’s very first learners where it all began. This was truly a momentous way of showcasing the past and present and having them come together.
