Nosh Food Rescue’s Odd Plate Dinner turns food waste into gourmet delight

Nosh Food Rescue NPC invites you to the Odd Plate Dinner, a one-of-a-kind event where chefs transform surplus food into exquisite, sustainable dishes.

Nosh Food Rescue NPC, a Randburg-based social enterprise, invites the community to an unforgettable evening at the HTA School of Culinary Art for the Odd Plate Dinner on November 6.
The event promises to be a gastronomic experience, with a carefully curated three-course meal crafted by talented chefs, lecturers, and second-year students using salvaged food that would otherwise go to waste. This unique culinary experience aims to highlight the possibilities of creating delicious meals from surplus foodstuffs.

Attendees will be treated to beautifully presented dishes that showcase how ‘unloved’ produce when in the hands of skilled chefs, can truly shine. The evening will also feature a cash bar, a lucky draw, and potentially live music for entertainment. This event not only offers a unique dining experience but also serves as an opportunity for guests to learn about Nosh’s mission and get inspired to make a difference themselves.

Since its founding, the organisation has rescued and redistributed more than 3 121 tonnes of food, providing the equivalent of 8.24 million meals to South Africans in need. By diverting this food from landfills, the organisation has also helped mitigate 2 670 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, contributing positively to the environment. The non-profit partners with various beneficiary organisations across Gauteng, ensuring that wholesome, nutritious food reaches those struggling with food insecurity.
