Randburg resident’s 25km mental health swim mission
Randburg resident Donovan Lindeque is set to swim 1 000 lengths of a 25m pool, culminating in 25km, to raise awareness, and R100 000, for men’s mental health this December.
Randburg resident Donovan Lindeque is preparing to make waves this December with an ambitious fundraising challenge to support men’s mental health awareness. The event, set to take place on December 14 and 15 at the Randpark Primary School swimming pool, will see Lindeque swim 1 000 lengths of the 25m pool, a total distance of 25km.

Driven by a desire to bring attention to the struggles many men face in silence, Lindeque is calling on the community to support his effort through sponsorships, donations, and participation. “I’m not doing this for any personal gain,” said Lindeque. “I want to make a difference and highlight the damage that mental health issues can leave behind for men and their families.”
Lindeque’s goal is to raise R100 000 for mental health awareness. To encourage involvement, he is inviting community members to join the swim challenge by swimming their lengths at R20 per length, with proceeds going towards the cause.

He is also seeking sponsors to assist with swim gear, event essentials, and basic needs during the two-day event. Volunteers willing to offer their time and skills to help with event logistics are also welcome.
Though he has no funding secured yet, Lindeque remains hopeful. “I have the will, and I believe the funds will follow,” he said. His determination is an inspiring call to action for those who recognise the importance of mental health awareness and want to contribute to this vital cause.
