The STEM MentHER programme, launched in 2022, is available at seven universities across South Africa. It aims to support top-performing high school girls who show strong potential in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Each university selects only 10 learners for the programme, making it a highly competitive and sought-after opportunity.

Learners are nominated by their schools based on their academic excellence in maths and science. They are then asked to submit motivational letters explaining more about themselves and their interest in STEM subjects.

At the ceremony, the three learners met their assigned mentors, who will guide them throughout the year. The programme offers a range of activities to support the girls’ development. These include: one-on-one mentoring sessions, job shadowing, team-building events, and special tours of the university campus. The learners will also take part in skills development workshops to help them prepare for future studies and careers in STEM fields.

Congratulations to Jenna Bidgood, Jenna Katzenstein, and Keabetswe Mapasha on this exciting achievement. Their passion and hard work have earned them a spot in a programme that is set to open doors and inspire their futures.
