Sportnetwork Cricket Academy takes the wins at the 2025 Nashua Southern Africa Academies Series

In continuing to solidify its position as a leading, private cricket development academy in the region, Sportnetwork Cricket Academy won all four games they played at the 2025 Nashua Southern Africa Academies Series.

The Sportnetwork Cricket Academy, from Randburg, delivered an exceptional performance at the prestigious Nashua Southern Africa Academies Series 2025, hosted in Botswana.

Competing against top academies from the Southern African region, the team played four highly competitive matches, emerging victorious in all four. This unbeaten run is a testament to the academy’s commitment to excellence in youth cricket development, and reflects the hard work and dedication of the players, coaching staff, and support personnel.

Academy director and coach Tatenda Moyo praised the squad for their discipline and growth. “This tour was about more than just results; it was about development, exposure, and testing our systems against some of the best in Southern Africa. I’m incredibly proud of how our boys represented South Africa, both on and off the field.”

The tour also fostered camaraderie and learning, as players interacted with peers from other countries, embracing the spirit of sport and cultural exchange.

With this success, Sportnetwork Cricket Academy continues to solidify its position as a leading private cricket development academy in the region. The tour’s outcome sets a strong foundation for the rest of the season, with more local and international fixtures planned.

When Moyo started the academy in 2016, it was all about one-on-one coaching, because that made it easier to manage. Over the years, he has put together teams to play friendly matches, to see how the boys implement what he teaches them individually.

“To have a team, which represents racial diversity, and performs as a unit, really made me so proud. The boys were so professional in their conduct, on and off the field, and, as a coach, it makes you feel proud.”

He explained that they went there with open minds, not knowing what to expect, but the one thing they held on to, was the belief in their talent. “We wanted to win, but I made sure the boys didn’t become arrogant, because cricket can surprise you. We went there knowing we just needed to play good cricket, and the rest would follow.”

He added that the team worked as a unit and the mood was extraordinary. The fact that they had all played cricket across borders, for the first time, meant more to them than just winning a cup; it meant they made history.
