The young cricketer explained that he feels very happy and proud for his selection. “I was also very nervous as it was my first time playing and being with the team. I couldn’t communicate well with others as they speak Afrikaans.”

Coach Tatts, a former cricketer who played at the competitive level in Zimbabwe, has been a source of inspiration and mentorship for Alakhe.

Starting playing at the early age of three years old, Alakhe is so far enjoying his fast-growing cricket journey. “When I was born my dad was already a coach. He would take me to work with him. He would throw balls, and I started loving it.”

Alakhe has improved his game along the years, making sure he stays fit for competitions and balances his sport well with school.
