The campaign, which ran throughout the week, saw the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), City Power, Pikitup, Citizen Relationship and Urban Management (CRUM), and the Randburg Library working together to revitalise the ward.

Deputy director of Region B Tytus Motau detailed the work done during the week, which focused on tackling service delivery issues and improving public spaces in the community. “What we have been doing, in Randburg, is a high impact service delivery programme that started in Region F. The focus is mainly to bring service delivery to the ground, and ensure that we have an impact.”
Ward 102 councillor Lucinda Harman was present throughout the week. On the final day, she gave a heartfelt speech, thanking all those involved. “I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. We gave our best shot to Randburg, to Ward 102, to Johannesburg, because, I hope that, just like me, we want to be proud to live in Johannesburg. We want to be proud of the streets we go down.”

One of the key areas targeted during the campaign was Bordeaux, particularly around Hiela Place, where officials found hijacked buildings and displaced people living outside.
Health inspectors, accompanied by JMPD officers, inspected a traditional food restaurant in Hiela Place that was violating several health regulations. The ‘owner’ of the restaurant was issued multiple fines, including for non-compliance and having an unhygienic working environment.
The team then moved to Oceans Private School, located next to an abandoned building. City Power officials discovered that the hijacked building had been illegally connecting to the school’s electricity. Power was cut off from the building immediately.
Clean-up efforts continued deeper into the Bordeaux area, as Pikitup workers removed litter and helped clear public spaces.

The campaign aims to show how teamwork between different departments can make a lasting difference in communities. Residents of Ward 102 are hopeful that the improvements seen during the week will continue, and lead to long-term change.
