The event was designed to strengthen trade and investment links between South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), highlighting the benefits of forming businesses within the UAQFTZ.
Guests and media representatives were welcomed with refreshments and a chance to network informally before the official programme began. Refilwe Rakoma served as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding attendees through the day’s proceedings. RCCI president Manjush Mathews gave a warm introduction, followed by remarks from a UAE Embassy representative focusing on South Africa/UAE trade relations.
A special reflection was shared by Abraham Tshabuse, a respected methodologist, ahead of the main presentation delivered by Johnson George, general manager of UAQFTZ. George spoke about the advantages and opportunities available to South African entrepreneurs in the UAQFTZ, noting the ease of setting up businesses, access to regional markets, and favourable regulatory environment.
Following the presentation, an engaging Q and A session took place, where the delegation from the UAQFTZ and RCCI panels responded to questions from the audience on investment readiness, trade incentives, and the potential for partnerships.

Commenting on the success of the event, RCCI acting CEO Richard Ntjana said: “It was successful because the turnout was good and the kind of questions that were asked by the participants were from those who have tried to penetrate the UAE market. The information was valuable. Many didn’t know about the free trade zone, or the incentives they are providing.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging all attendees, partners, and presenters. Conversations continued informally during a networking session over drinks and light snacks.
