1 goal victory sends Randburg to quarter finals
Randburg Football Club U18 took part in the Engen Knockout Tournament at Marks Park against Kathorus Hyper Academy, squeezing through with a 1–0 win.
Randburg Football Club, affectionately called the Blue Army, U18 edged out Kathorus Hyper Academy 1–0 to book their spot in the quarter finals of the 2025 Engen Cup tournament at Marks Park.
It was a must win encounter, as both teams were looking to join Mamelodi Sundown’s, topping group C with six points. Both teams were tied with three points after two games.
Kathorus had the upper hand early in the game, applying pressure to Randburg who seemed to be struggling to get out of their half.

The Blue Army started to find their way back into the match, with Sihle Nkosi and Valentino Makhubela controlling the mid-field. They were using the flanks well, with Patrick Chisungu a thorn in the Kathorus defence on the left-hand side.
Randburg looked dangerous most of the half but couldn’t score. In the second stanza, Randburg made a few changes and injected speed and power into their attacking line, with Jason Oliver and Sipho Muntanga.

The substitutions continued to cause all sorts of problems for Kathorus. A few chances fell on Muntanga, who was not clinical in front of goals, but later in the half he got away from the defenders, placing the ball at the back of the net to give the Blue Army the lead they desperately needed.
Kathorus kept pushing for an equaliser but could not break the disciplined Randburg defence.
Randburg FC has now finished second in group C and will take on reigning champions Kaizer Chiefs in the quarter finals.
