Lyceum College reflects on a transformative 2025 and wishes community a joyful festive season

As Lyceum College marks a milestone year – overcoming challenges and celebrating victories – head of marketing Melanie Williams shares warm holiday wishes to all those that have supported them throughout 2025.

As the year draws to a close, Lyceum College looks back on a year defined by renewed independence, strengthened governance, and powerful stories of student success.
It has been a year of rebuilding, reimagining, and rising stronger than ever – one that has set the foundation for an exciting new era in the institution’s history. According to head of marketing Melanie Williams, the college’s 2025 story was defined by renewed strength, stability, and student success. “This was the year we reaffirmed our independence, operating under our own executive leadership, senate, and governance structures. It sharpened our focus on academic assurance and allowed us to firmly re-establish our commitment to quality.”

All academic programmes were confirmed fully accredited by the council on higher education (CHE) and registered on South African Qualifications Authority’s (SAQA) national qualifications framework (NQF), cementing the college’s credibility and its promise to deliver accessible, future-focused education.

The year was also punctuated by vibrant graduation ceremonies, which celebrated the accomplishments of students across faculties, many of whom balanced work, family, and studies through Lyceum’s flexible distance-learning model.

Williams explained that 2025 was not without its challenges. The transition out of the Educor group required the institution to confront legacy issues, such as outdated systems, unclear governance, and a loss of student confidence. “The instability of previous years had left gaps that needed urgent repair, but 2025 became the year we turned challenges into progress. By establishing our own executive leadership and senate, we took full control of academic quality for the first time in years.”

One of the most memorable moments of the year came from the awarding of a full bursary to a young woman from the local sporting community – the first in her family to access higher education. “Her story stands as a reminder of Lyceum’s mission: To open doors, change lives, and create real opportunities.”

Williams shared a heartfelt Christmas message to the school’s community. “To our learners, thank you for your courage and dedication. To our staff, your commitment has shaped every success we celebrate. This Christmas, we wish our entire Lyceum family rest, warmth, and joy. May your homes be filled with peace and gratitude.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Lyceum College stands united, hopeful, and ready to build on the bright new chapter that began this year.
