Residents in Bordeaux North are raising concerns about slow response times and unfinished repair work after a burst pipe flooded a home in Garden Road.
According to a resident, who asked to only be referred to as Colin, water ran at the house for about two days before it was eventually switched off. “I was standing knee deep in water. They couldn’t get the water out.”
He said the delay led to severe flooding inside the house, with water flowing through the entire property. By the time the supply was cut, significant damage had already been done.

Although the water has now dried up, residents say the biggest concern is how long it took for officials to act. Colin added that there was little communication explaining the delay, or outlining what steps that would follow.
In addition to the slow response, residents are unhappy that a hole dug at the corner of the property during repairs has not been backfilled, raising safety concerns, particularly for pedestrians and children in the area. Residents fear it could cause an injury if not properly secured and repaired.
Community members are calling for quicker emergency responses and proper completion of repair work to prevent further risk and damage.
