JRA finally patches Bend Street reinstatement

After months of constant escalations, Johannesburg Roads Agency has patched Bend Street.

Blairgowrie Community Association (BCA) chairperson Harold Fleishman has confirmed that the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has finally completed the repairs on Bend Street.

“Miracles do happen,” he said, and appreciated the work carried out by the entity, despite not being fully happy.

The excavations on Bend Street were the result of Johannesburg Water leak repairs. Although JRA carried out some of the work to reinstate the road in October 2025, the entity did not patch all of the road, promising to come back and complete the work. The work was abandoned after the contractor ran out of tar.

Fleishman believed that they should have come back sooner to complete the work. “They said they are running out of tar, and they are coming back, but they never did.”

Four months later, JRA has patched and restored the road.
Fleishman had been escalating the issue with the entity, and while he was grateful that it was finally done, he said it was unacceptable to have to beg for so long.

“Now there are more and more potholes all over, and some are really bad.”
