Residents of Ward 102 in Randburg are urged to head to their voting stations today as the by-election gets underway, with polling venues set to close at 21:00.
The ward, which falls under the City of Johannesburg, is holding the by-election to fill a vacant council seat. Voting stations opened early this morning and have seen a steady flow of residents throughout the day.
So far, no incidents have been reported by Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) officials at any of the voting stations in the ward.
Ward 102 covers several suburban communities in Johannesburg North, where service delivery, infrastructure maintenance, water supply, and community safety remain pressing issues. Political parties have been actively campaigning in recent weeks, encouraging residents to participate.

Party representatives were visible outside venues assisting residents and directing them to the correct stations, while party agents inside monitored proceedings to ensure the process ran fairly and smoothly.
Residents are reminded to bring valid identification when heading to their voting station.

With only hours remaining before polls close, community leaders and candidates are urging voters not to miss the opportunity to have their say in the future of Ward 102.
