8 years’ imprisonment for armed cellphone robber

The Station Commander of Randburg Police Station Brigadier Michelle Jones commended and praised the detectives for their sterling work.

This follows the arrest of one of two armed robbers on January 15.

According to Randburg Police spokesperson Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the victim was walking towards the garage in Strydom Park, Randburg when accosted by two suspects.

“The suspects threatened the victim with a firearm, searched him and took his phone then fled the scene.

The docket was opened which was thoroughly investigated. The officers tracked one of the suspects and arrested him,” said Maja.

The 39-year-old Cosmo Moyo was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
