WCSS hosts a successful event for women
Mathabo Bekimbia-Tchoffo said for WCSS, Women's Day means celebrating the freedom of women and the success of every woman should be an inspiration to another
A programme hosted by Windsor Community Support Services (WCSS) drew close to 30 women to the Windsor East Recreation Centre.
The purpose of the event was to celebrate women and bring awareness about GBV-related issues and encourage women to report cases.
The focus of the event was on safety, health, and wellness. Seargent Mokgadi Elma Malesa of the Linden police was one of the attendees. Precious Lungu of Papamani Reaction spoke about security options for women who live alone or are single mothers.

Mathuto Mashangwane spoke about fitness and wellness, encouraging young women and seniors to exercise and eat healthily.
The WCSS community liaison manager Mathabo Bekimbia-Tchoffo said that they had a great time and fun with the ladies that attended.

“Our guests shared valuable information most ladies were not aware that they can get victim support counselling from SAPS even if their cases are not registered. Single women and mothers are now aware that they can acquire a panic button from Papamani, at a reasonable fee. Those are the things and knowledge that was shared during the event.”
Bekimbia-Tchoffo said that GBV is one of the most concerning matters in Windsor and it mostly goes unreported, or victims are persuaded by families and relatives to drop charges.

“The [cause] of gender base violence might be a lot of factors, substance abuse and so on. We have engaged with SAPS Linden to do more awareness campaigns in the area.”
