Nerina Street repair work hits another unexpected snag

Residents will have to go without water for a while longer as Johannesburg Water delays the project due to yet another challenge.

Randburg residents will have to wait a little longer before the water supply is entirely restored, as Johannesburg Water (JW) announces yet another setback in the Nerina Street repairs.

Only days after JW informed residents that it had begun the process of repairing a burst AC water pipe on Nerina Street in Ferndale, it has now temporarily halted the repair work due to pressure in the pipe, which has left welders unable to continue. This comes two days after the water utility announced that repairs were delayed to due to heavy rainfall around the excavation site.

While repairs commenced a day later, on March 12, JW informed residents that a specific material necessary for repairs would need to be couriered overnight, and would only be received tomorrow, March 14.

JW has assured residents that repairs will continue once the part has arrived.

Areas affected by the interruption in water supply include:

  • Bordeaux,
  • Ferndale,
  • Blairgowrie,
  • Moret,
  • Parts of Bryanston, and
  • Parts of Randburg.

In the meantime, alternative water provisions have been made for those affected by the interruption in water supply.
