Watch: Joburg experiences severe thunderstorms
Severe thunderstorms and damaging winds warning for Gauteng residents. SA Weather Service issues Yellow Level 2 warning.
The South African Weather Service (Saws) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms leading to flooding due to heavy downpours.
Strong damaging winds and excessive lightning are also expected across parts of Gauteng. This may lead to property damage.
The weather service has also warned residents living in low-lying areas of the possibility of flooding and damage to informal housing structures. According to Saws, power surges may occur leading to a disruption of services.
Residents are urged to remain alert during this time.
