Douglasdale CPF hosts a successful crime awareness campaign
Festive season crime awareness campaigns continue throughout the Douglasdale precinct.
Douglasdale Community Police Forum joined forces with different stakeholders for a festive season crime awareness campaign at Bellairs Shopping Centre in North Riding.
The CPF, joined by Douglasdale SAPS, the National Children’s and Violence Trust (NCVT), the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), and Bellairs Shopping Centre management, hosted yet another successful campaign.

Freda Boiles, of the CPF, explained that this initiative aimed to educate and engage the public ahead of the busy holiday season. Motorists and pedestrians received brochures and safety tips from all participating partners.

Douglasdale SAPS shared safety advice on general safety tips, theft of motor vehicles and gate motors, and growing cellphone snatching cases. NCVT, represented by Lethabo Kolo, focused on gender-based violence (GBV).
GCIS, represented by Moloko Segale and Tshidi Mokoka, handed out vibrant, eco-friendly reusable shopping bags filled with valuable information on road safety and the protection of children and vulnerable persons.
CPF’s Sector 1 chairperson, Mike Tuck, along with Emile Barnard (patroller coordinator), Moshen Naicker, and Johann Schonken, engaged with the public on the CPF’s role in community safety. They also gave emergency contacts and listened to residents’ concerns.

Boiles said the campaign was well-received by the public, who appreciated the visible presence and active engagement of all involved.

She urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to SAPS 10111.
