Garden Village welcomes 2026 with gratitude and hope

As the new year begins, Garden Village encourages community involvement, highlighting volunteer opportunities, a key committee vacancy, and ongoing efforts to build a warm, connected environment.

Garden Village has entered the new year with a message of thanks and renewed purpose, expressing deep appreciation to everyone who supported the home throughout 2025.

The organisation said the kindness and involvement of its partners, families, volunteers, and friends made a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.

According to village manager Lauren Rheeder, every visit, donation, and message of encouragement offered strength during the past year. Supporters helped create an environment where residents felt valued and cared for. As 2026 begins, Rheeder said: “We are eager to continue building on this foundation of compassion and community partnership.”

Looking ahead, the organisation has set clear goals for the year. These include expanding its wellness and recreational programmes to further enrich daily life for residents.

“There are also plans to increase intergenerational activities, by working more closely with schools and community groups. Strengthening emotional and health-related support services remains a priority, along with creating more opportunities for shared experiences between residents, staff, families, and community members.”

Garden Village aims to ensure the home continues to be a place defined by dignity, warmth, and belonging.

“We are excited about what the year may bring, and look forward to hosting new community events, welcoming new residents and families, and forming stronger ties with neighbours and partners. Creating meaningful memories throughout the year is at the heart of our plans.”

Rheeder also encouraged more community involvement in 2026. People can support by volunteering their time and visiting residents, reading or offering companionship.

A key vacancy exists on the leadership team, with the committee treasurer position open for election. The village is hoping to find someone with financial skills and a passion for service.

Community members can also support ongoing programmes through donations, assist with corporate social responsibility partnerships, or join events that help strengthen community spirit. Skills such as music, gardening, storytelling, and crafts are always welcome.

Rheeder wished the wider community peace, purpose, and joy for 2026, and thanked everyone who continues to uplift Garden Village’s residents, saying their support remains vital in shaping a year filled with growth, connection, and heartfelt moments.
