Ward 114 constituency chairperson sets clear priorities for community upliftment in 2026

As the new year begins, Ward 114 constituency chairperson Sello Mabelebele has set out his main goals for 2026, including education support, service delivery improvement, and youth opportunities.

Ward 114 constituency chairperson Sello Mabelebele has encouraged residents to start the new year with reflection and renewed focus as they return from the holiday season.

He urged the community to look back at the past year with honesty, and step into 2026 with a sense of hope.

“As we start the new year, I encourage everyone to reflect on 2025. Think about what you need to leave behind and what you want to carry into 2026. If 2025 was not your year, remember that 2026 can be better. Do not be too hard on yourself – every new year brings a fresh chance.”

Mabelebele outlined several priorities that will guide his work in the community over the next few months. Supporting learners remains a key focus. “My priority, from December 2025 to February 2026, is assisting underprivileged children with school uniforms and shoes. We want every child to step into the new school year with confidence.”

He also raised concerns about living conditions in Zandspruit. “Helping residents gain access to clean water and safe electricity is essential. These are basic services that everyone deserves.”

Ensuring that families do not go hungry is another important commitment. “No child should go to bed hungry.” He noted that food support remains a critical need in many households.

Youth unemployment is also high on his agenda. “I want to support unemployed young people, so they can access job opportunities and enter the labour market. Our youth need real chances, not empty promises.”

Looking ahead, Mabelebele said he is determined to make 2026 a year of practical action. “I look forward to continuing to serve and improve the lives of residents in Ward 114 through meaningful action and responsive leadership.”

He encouraged residents and organisations to play an active role in helping those in need. “Anyone who would like to donate school shoes or non-perishable food is welcome to contact me directly. Your support can make a real difference in our community.”

In his New Year’s message, Mabelebele shared warm wishes with all Johannesburg residents, especially those in Ward 114 and Cosmo City.

“Happy New Year to everyone. As taxpayers, you deserve value for your money. Please do not hesitate to reach out when you face service delivery challenges.

Let us work together to build a better, safer, and more caring community in 2026.”
