Knights Prep confidently blasts into 2026
Knights Prep began the new school year on a high note, welcoming Grade 1 learners and prioritising comfort, familiarity, and community support across the campus.
Knights Preparatory School kicked off the 2026 academic year with energy, colour, and a strong sense of togetherness as learners and families returned to campus this week.
Principal Juanita Schippers said the school officially welcomed learners back under the theme “Blasting into 2026”, which set the tone for a positive and enthusiastic start to the year.

“It was wonderful to see families and children arriving excited to be back at school,” said Schippers. “We especially loved welcoming our Grade 1 learners, who officially started their school journey today.”

To mark the occasion, the school hosted a festive welcome with themed photo booths, astronauts, and space-inspired props. The initiative aimed to create excitement and help learners feel comfortable and happy on their first day.
Schippers said while every school year comes with challenges, the Knights Prep community remains hopeful and united.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community of parents, teachers, and children,” she said. “When you start the year with a strong community like this, the sky truly is the limit.”

She also explained the school’s approach to easing the transition from Grade R to Grade 1. Grade 1 learners remain in the school’s Early Learning Centre, which includes early childhood grades and familiar teaching spaces.
“The reason for this is to provide an extra layer of love and security,” Schippers explained. “We don’t believe children should feel anxious about starting Grade 1.”

The Early Learning Centre provides a calm, natural environment featuring trees, play equipment, and open spaces, enabling learners to feel at ease as they grow and develop.
“When children feel safe and comfortable, they learn better,” she said. “Keeping them in a familiar environment helps them thrive.”
