Caxton Local Media recently held an industry event that brought together senior clients, agency partners, and respected thought leaders for a day of insight, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussion.
The gathering marked a first of its kind for the company, creating a platform focusing, not only on sales pitches, but on meaningful engagement and shared learning.

According to Chris Halstead, head of sales at Caxton Media, the event was an internal vision from Tasmia Ismail, Caxton’s strategic consulting. “It was effectively the brainchild of Tasmia, who came up with the idea. It was just a gathering of minds, some of our senior clients and agencies that we work very closely with, but have never done an event of this nature before. It was more about getting the leaders of these various businesses into the same room.”

The programme featured a strong line-up of speakers addressing the pressing challenges facing businesses today.

Dr Steve Harris addressed the attendees on the importance of re-learning and mental toughness, a message that resonated strongly with the room. Sylvester Meyer, CEO of Afribit, spoke deeply about the role of artificial intelligence (AI). Halstead said it was also a key topic, with further workshops planned to explore its impact in greater depth.

Veteran broadcaster Jeremy Maggs shared insights into the state of the economy, offering predictions ahead of the afternoon’s state of the nation address (SONA).

“We spend so much time presenting and proposing ideas to these clients,” Halstead added. “It’s nice to have them on a different platform, where it’s not about selling, but about bringing the industry together.”
The event was closed off with a panel discussion around the coming local election.
