Soulbent Project brings clean-up drive to Zandspruit streets

Volunteers from the Soulbent Project descended on Zandspruit, taking on illegal dumping and waste in a drive the organisation says reflects its commitment to building cleaner communities.

The Soulbent Project took to the streets of Zandspruit on March 25, as part of its ongoing campaign to clean up communities across Johannesburg.

Volunteers gathered to clear waste from illegal dumping and restore the appearance of public spaces in the area. The organisation said the drive is part of a broader mission to build cleaner, healthier environments for residents across the city.

Soulbent Project CEO Mashudu Makhado welcomed the efforts of those who took part.

“We are encouraged by the dedication of our volunteers who continue to show up and make a difference on the ground,” said Makhado. “Their commitment proves that real change begins with action.”

He said the Zandspruit clean-up was a reminder that every area deserves care, respect, and responsibility, and called on community members, stakeholders, and local leaders to get involved.

“Despite daily challenges, our teams remain consistent in restoring dignity to our public spaces and protecting our environment,” Makhado added.

He said they will continue operating across different regions, focusing on tackling illegal dumping, promoting recycling, and creating safer spaces for residents.

“Together, we are building a cleaner future,” said Makhado.
