The Swiss Hotel School welcomed the new season with its annual Springfest, a family-friendly festival that also marked the final event in the second-year curriculum calendar on August 29.

The festival featured live performances by Georgetown and Jacques Leguiz, along with drinks and food, drawing a strong crowd from the school community and their families.

Second-year student Kaylin Bowers described the occasion. “Today we are having our Springfest, which is a family-based festival event, where we have Georgetown playing today.”

Tatiana Moreira, one of the organisers of the event, explained that it forms part of the students’ practical training. “The Springfest is basically just welcoming a day of spring.

We’ve had to do it as part of our curriculum, so every second year has to do an event. We had five other events to do, and now this is our final one.”

Moreira said the organising team was pleased with how the day unfolded, despite a few setbacks along the way. “Honestly, I’m extremely happy.

We obviously did face some challenges, but we never faced a challenge without having the means to be able to fix it. I think we’ve done extremely well, and everyone seems to be having a good time, so we’re happy.”

For those who missed the festival, Moreira said they missed out on far more than just a party. “You missed out on such a good time.

You missed out on some drinks, some amazing music, and just a good vibe, a beautiful day, and getting to experience what our hospitality looks like.”

Springfest brought the students’ six required curriculum events to a close, giving them a fitting send-off after a busy year of hands-on event planning.
