Honeydew police seize suspected R300m cocaine in North Riding plot raid

Police seize cocaine with an estimated value of R300m and an altered SUV with fake plates in an intelligence operation against illicit drug networks in North Riding.

Honeydew police seized suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of R300m during an intelligence-driven operation in North Riding.

The operation was carried out after police received information about suspected illicit drug-related activities at a plot in the area. Members of Honeydew SAPS acted on the intelligence and conducted an operation at the property, recovering the suspected cocaine. Police also seized a black Land Cruiser SUV during the operation.

According to Johannesburg district SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mpho Tshetlhane, the vehicle allegedly displayed false registration numbers and had an altered vehicle identification number.
While police investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the seizure, Tshetlhane confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the seizure at this stage. She added that police will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting the illicit drug trade and other serious crimes, and work with stakeholders and communities to address criminal activities.

Members of the public with information about suspected criminal activities are urged to contact the police Crime Stop line on 08600 10111. Information can also be submitted anonymously through the MySAPS App.
