Fittest woman in Africa competes in USA
RANDBURG – Celestie Engelbrecht of Randburg wins the title of Fittest Woman in Africa in the June 2014 CrossFit competition.
A lass from Randburg earned the title of Fittest woman in Africa at the Crossfit Regional Championships held at the Dome in Northgate.
Celestie Engelbrecht (25), also known as the ‘Beastess’, will now go on to take part in The International CrossFit Games in California (USA) in July, which will require her to train for three gruelling sessions per day to prepare for the competition.
This placed severe strain on her full-time job at FSP Health and Fitness – but the company has since stepped up to the plate and offered her full sponsorship for the event as a brand ambassador for the company.
“I knew winning Africa regionals and having the opportunity to go to The Crossfit Games would mean more training hours and less work,” said Engelbrecht.
“I just bought a house too, so financially, I knew it was going to be a challenge for me.”
But thanks to the sponsorship from her employers, she can now focus on her fitness to excel at the games later this month.
“Being a brand ambassador gives me the opportunity to be a full-time athlete– train more while being able to recover and compete internationally throughout the year,” continues Engelbrecht.
“Besides, interested people can follow my journey, read my blog and get tips on how they can get better at Crossfit.”
