BRYANSTON – Tatami Judo Club prevailed over many opponents at The South African Judo Championships held in Port Elizabeth from 6 to 12 July.

The club’s players train at Bryanston Primary School and under the guidance of their coach Sensei Basil Smith

They represented Central Gauteng at the tournament.

Out of 16 judoka that qualified, Tatami won eight individual medals (two gold, one silver and five bronze) and 11 team medals.

Smith was exceptionally proud of these results.

Smith is a dedicated and enthusiastic sensei and his students thrive to achieve their goals on the judo mat.

His students look up to Smith and hold the utmost respect for him.

His coaching techniques are particular to ensure his students attain their maximum potential.

Tatami Judo Club started in 2007 and is now one of the strongest clubs in Gauteng.
