WWE superstars rock Jozi

NORTH RIDING – WWE superstars leave fans wanting more.

Johannesburg fans young and old were in for a treat of a lifetime as the WWE Live South Africa tour came to town.

The sold-out TicketPro Dome was buzzing with excitement as some of the up and coming wrestlers from the WWE stable showed off their talents in the ring.

The tour had already done stops in Cape Town and Pretoria and the best was certainly saved for last.

First up in the ring was WWE Intercontinental Champion, Seth Rollins who partnered up with Finn Bálor to take on The Bar: Sheamus and Cesaro in a tag team match. It was a fantastic way to get the crowd warmed up and it did not take long for the beat down to begin.

So many punches were traded between the four wrestlers that The Bar decided to walk away from the match. But Rollins and Bálor would have none of it and they chased the duo, bringing them back into the ring. The match continued but not for long as Bálor claimed victory.

Next was a match that had audiences on the edge of their seats as Cruiserweight champion, Cedric Alexander put his title on the line against Drew Gulak.

The crowd were behind Alexander as they chanted, “Gulak sucks” throughout the match. The high-flying duo put on a great show and Alexander was declared the victor.

It was then time for the women to show off their talents as Sasha Banks, Bayley and Asuka faced off in a triple-threat match.

This match showcased the rising popularity of women in wrestling as the crowd went crazy when the trio made their entrances.

The match also did not disappoint and lived up to the excitement of the audience. What the women lack in explosive power, they more than made up for it in speed, agility and skill.

Asuka claimed victory with a submission hold on Bayley.

The match was followed by Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt taking on Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a tag team match. It was an uneventful match and the partnership of Hardy and Gallows secured the victory.

After a short interval, the audience was treated to another tag team matchup between Apollo and Titus O’Neil taking on The Miztourage’s Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas.

The match was entertaining but did not last long as Apollo and O’Neil won. Next was Raw Womens Champion Nia Jax battling it out against Mandy Rose.

While the champion had raw power, Rose showed off her agility, moving around the ring and trying to tire out Jax. However, this tactic did not work as Jax overpowered Rose and claimed victory.

The main event of the day saw wrestler Elias enter the ring with a guitar and started serenading the crowd.

“Oh, it feels good to be loved. I just wish I would be loved by people who actually matter, and this did not go well with the audience who started to boo him.”

Elias then challenged anyone who thought they were a better musician than him to come out. And enter AKA, one of South Africa’s biggest musicians, which sent the audience into a frenzy.

After a brief exchange between the musician and the wrestler, Samoan Joe came out and along with Elias, took on Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns in a tag team match that had the crowd on their feet.

Strowman and Reigns overpowered their opponents for victory.
