Not only this, but club member Brendan Zackey was runner-up to Gibson, and Peter Hahn was runner-up in the 50s age group.

Not to be outdone by their seniors, the academy’s youngsters shone bright in the Junior Nationals.

Sarah Millard (U18) and Runé van Wyk (U14) reached their respective finals in the singles.

“I am very proud of how everyone did, especially the juniors,” Gibson told Randburg Sun.

“Nationals is the biggest tournament of the year. The older guys – myself, Brendan and Peter – are working towards the young seniors world championships although they may not be feasible with travel during Covid.
