Team In-Sync looks for sponsors as it prepares for international tournament

NORTHGATE – Local synchronised skating team wins gold at Nationals.

Novice synchronised skating group, Team In-Sync is asking for help from the community as they prepare to compete at the Santa Clause Cup in the Czech Republic in December.

The group is based at Northgate Ice Rink and has recently formed a mixed-age synchro team of skaters aged 10 to 21, with the sport’s skills level two to five.

Since September last year, coach Dino Quattrocecere’s outfit has been back on the ice training under strict Covid-19 safety regulations.

At Gauteng provincials in March at Forest Hill ice rink, the team skated their programme with passion and determination and qualified to compete at nationals.

This meant that they were the first-ever South African mixed-age team to compete at nationals. This was a huge accomplishment, not only for the team but for the coach as well.

The team went on to compete in the Gauteng inter-provincial competition in April and they beat their personal best score, setting them firmly on the path to do well at nationals.

Nationals 202, was hosted by Central Gauteng and South African Figure Skating Association in Centurion in June and while there were nerves, skaters supported each other in their beautiful programme to again beat their personal best score and earn a gold medal.

This win qualified them to compete in the Santa Clause Cup but the team needs a sponsor to get there.

Team In-Sync will host fundraisers and will appeal to local companies for financial assistance.
